Southern Cape 4 Day Tour

From: $1700,00 p/p sharing

There’s quite a bit packed into this tour, which starts in Cape Town and heads on up towards Cape Agulhus or Arniston where you enjoy a traditional SouthAfrican ‘Braai’.
A highlight of this tour is a private Game Drive at a lodge which has the Big Five! A visit to the famous and very striking Cango Caves is followed by some adventurous Ostrich riding ending with a much needed relaxing evening in the Thermal Springs in Montagu.
Those with enough energy can enjoy an early morning hike in the Cape Fold Mountains and for those enjoying the slightly easier way, you can look forward to tasting some delicious wine in the countryside.

Day One – Destination Arniston

We leave Cape Town, absorbing the coastal viewpoints from Clarence Drive towards Betty’s Bay, where we visit Stony Point’s penguin colony. Next on the schedule is a tour of the Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens, the epicentre of the Cape fynbos region. Further along the Southern Cape Coast we stop for lunch at the town of Elim, an early mission station established in 1824, recognisable for its gleaming-white fishermen’s cottages. We continue to Cape Agulhas, the meeting point for the Indian and Atlantic oceans. Its name “Cape of Needles” is derived from its jagged and jutting rocks, a peril for early seafarers OR we opt for De Hoop Nature Reserve, a marvel of biodiversity and whale sightings We overnight in Cape Agulhas or Arniston and enjoy a dinner (or barbeque).

Day Two – Destination Private Game Reserve

We breakfast in Cape Agulhas and then head towards our safari excursion at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve in Mossel Bay where an experienced guide will navigate our sightings of the Big Five on this 3 hour game drive. On our route we visit the aloe factory and visit the oldest magistracy in the historical frontier town of Swellendam. On towards Oudtshoorn, the Capital of the Little Karoo, once home to early ostrich barons, and home to the Cango Caves. We overnight in Oudtshoorn and enjoy a relaxed dinner.

Day Three – Destination Montagu

After breakfast a tour of the Cango Caves is an exciting opportunity to twist one’s way through the dripstone caverns and galleries directed by an experienced and accredited guide. For our next adventure we stop at one of the oldest working ostrich farms, and for the adventure-spirited, a ride on an ostrich is a thrilling escapade. After this little adventure, we head onto Route 62 towards Montagu, a mountain-enveloped town, with the Langeberg Mountain range forming its picturesque ramparts and the famous healing hot springs attracting visitors year round. This is our opportunity to enjoy an evening swim in the thermal springs. We overnight in Montagu.

Day Four – Destination Cape Town

Breakfast kick starts day Four with an option to hike the beautiful Cape Fold mountains. With destination Cape Town as the end point we have the option of a sojourn at the Karoo National Botanical Gardens or the landmark Taal Monument in Paarl, followed by wine tasting, and time permitting – a historical tour of Stellenbosch or Paarl. We drive back to Cape Town, over-nighting at Bergzicht Guest House in Gardens. Guests may enjoy the evening at their leisure.
